An introduction that states a clear motive for your essay (don’t wait to answer the “so what?”

The goal of this assignment is to craft a textual analysis of one text we have read and discussed so far: “Junkspace” by Rem Koolhaas (PDF attached). Locate a scholarly problem in the text, and make a claim that either “resolves” the problem or responds to it in a thoughtful, insightful way.
This assignment will require you to not simply take the source text on its own terms. Rather, you should go meta––if Koolhaas are making claims about problems they have identified, then what you will be doing in this assignment is noticing a tension or dissonance in one of the two texts and making some kind of claim about this problem. In order to make this claim, focus on the writerly choices of the author: their word choice, their use of imagery and metaphor, the form of their essay, or any other aspect of the means by which the author unfurls their argument.
Requirements:
A proper introduction and conclusion, including a thesis statement in which you identify a scholarly problem and make your central claim about the text.
An introduction that states a clear motive for your essay (don’t wait to answer the “So what?” question) and a conclusion that draws out the implications of your claim.
A clear structure built around your central claim, with each paragraph adding an essential piece to your argument.
Evidence used persuasively, quoting from the text when necessary, summarizing or paraphrasing accurately and responsibly when appropriate.
Proper citations, including a Works Cited page. Please use MLA style citation.

Now i feel independent strong and brave.

Write a personal narrative essay on a trauma experience or life changing experience that changed you into who you are today. When I was young my parents always had issues with each other, my father domestically abused my mother. My mom raised my brother and I practically on her own. My father was present but we was never actually there. When my parents split up my mom went to court for 8 years. She had full custody of my brother and I. I had visitation with my father and he used to try to brain wash me and talk crap about my mom and her side of the family. As a child this affected me deeply. I had to see a therapist monthly and I was prescribed pills for my depression and in order to fall asleep at the age of 10. This was hard on me I felt like an outcast compared to kids my age. I was always worried about my fathers next move. He took me to the police several times because I refused to see him during visitation hours. When I was 15 I testified in court and told them that my father would brain wash me and he would also leave me with my grandma during his visiting hours. He slashed my moms tires several times. He didn’t want to pay child support even though he had two well paying jobs. I only received $20 a week from him which isn’t enough to even survive. My mom worked 12 hour shifts to support my brother and I. Now i feel independent strong and brave. I don’t let anyone use me or mistreat me now. (You can add or make up whatever details you want just make it creative and deep please)

What would you change about the food options, or the exercise options, if you could?

Do you think that Alabama State University (ASU) (OR your hometown) is a “food desert?” Some Background Information: IN her speech “Remarks to the NAACP” former First Lady Michelle Obama discusses certain roadblocks that families and children are facing, regarding the ability to eat healthy and live healthy lifestyles, ESPECIALLY African American families. She described how many families live in “food deserts.” These “deserts” are neighborhoods without quality grocery stores that offer access to fresh, healthy foods at affordable prices. As a result, families have to depend on buying unhealthy food from convenience stores instead. There are few opportunities for exercise and fresh air (no playgrounds, or it is too dangerous to go outside). Also, the schools that are located in these “deserts” often don’t offer things healthy lunch menus, recess or gym programs. What you have to do for this assignment (picking a topic to write about): For this assignment, I want you to write a 3-4 page essay (DOUBLE SPACED!) about why you think (or don’t think) ASU OR your own hometown is a food desert. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, you may choose to either write about your experiences with your experiences from your hometown (especially IF you are currently living at home!) What you have to do for this assignment (developing your ideas into a well written 5 paragraph essay): Pick three examples to prove your point, and write in as much detail about all of these examples that you bring up. (SHOW, DON’T TELL!) Each example should be a new paragraph in your essay! For instance, you can write about the quality of the meals in the dining hall, the fast food restaurants in the student union, the lack of grocery stores, the school gym, etc. Whatever you do, BE CREATIVE! You will be graded on the CONTENT of your essay (your 3 points, and the details that you use to bring these points to life), and the ORGANIZATION of your essay (spelling, grammar, etc.) Your essay should contain an introduction, an underlined thesis statement (a main idea that lists the 3 examples that you will talk about), a body and a conclusion. Remember to start a new paragraph for each different topic that you talk about (a new paragraph for each different example about how ASU is or is not a food desert.) Your conclusion should do more than just sum up your paper. Instead, you want to leave your readers with some food for thought. You want to be creative and original up until the very end. In your conclusion, you should write about the changes you wish would happen for healthier eating in Titus, Alabama. What would you change about the food options, or the exercise options, if you could? Express these ideas in your conclusion. I ATTACHED MY OUTLINE!

10-20 page short story my professor said this was the best part of my essay.

10-20 page short story My Professor said this was the best part of my essay. “Lily-Rose got into the car as I made a phone call in the driver’s seat. However, as the phone rang, I watched her make herself comfortable and prepare for a nap in my backseat, and I couldn’t help but wonder, was this a sign? Would I be a mother again? My thoughts were interrupted by an abrupt “Good morning, ma’am how can I help you?” I quickly hung up the phone and watched her in my backseat. By the time my conscience would catch up with me, I would already be on the highway. I would be a mother again in every sense of the word. I would be born again and filled with new life and purpose and all that entailed” Professor notes We are getting pretty deep into this story and we still haven’t had much of a spotlight put on our narrator. What I worry about is all this richly detailed backstory might get lost in the story. I’m really excited to see this story slow down and unfold the characters with dialogue and scenes.

I could feel my heart beat in my ears. The crisp December morning held an overwhelming feeling of anticipation. This feeling has only grown and swelled since we planned our trip to Africa months earlier. The moment that I achieved my life time goal of killing ‘The Big Five’ in Africa will always be solidified in my mind as the best trip of my life.

As we review rhetoric in writing this week, consider what it means to read and write rhetorically, and identify and analyze a writer’s rhetorical choices in a text of your choice.
You will write a 350-400 word post. In this discussion post, analyze the rhetorical situation of a text of your choosing. You will want to choose a text that is no more than two pages. The text could be a published text that represents a piece of polished writing so that you know that the author(s) has finished making revisions. Alternatively, you might choose something written for an academic, personal, work, or another context. Start by reading the text carefully and rhetorically. Use the elements of rhetorical context to analyze and understand the choices the writer has made in the text.
Rhetorical Context
author
audience
topic
purpose
Describe the rhetorical features of the article and consider what conclusion you can draw about the text. Your post should be organized around the rhetorical features you are analyzing, demonstrating how you came to your conclusion about the text.
Keep in mind that your essential aim is to analyze, not to evaluate.
Attach the article/text you are analyzing to the discussion board with your post. (e.g., a document, a screenshot, a link to the article)
