Think of a creative activity that would require the students to make a list of characteristics that are unique about the selected author’s work in order to create his/her own style statement.

Attached is an example of what is supposed to be done for the assignment!
Part 1:
Research the Author and the Author’s Works
This section should begin with an introduction of the author that includes background information and a list of works, awards and honors. This section should include a rationale for selecting the author and the books that will be used in the author study. The rationale should also address the appropriateness of the author for the grade level the author study will address, the genre of the books and how the books address ELA standards.
Part 2:
Using the Author’s Books to Teach a Mini-Lesson
This section will include a mini-lesson that uses one of the texts in the author study.
A mini lesson might focus on: the teaching of literacy concepts/strategies or skills (e.g., think alouds, semantic mapping, using context clues, word families, reading for expression, sequencing), the teaching of literary devices (e.g., alliteration, personification, determining mood) and the teaching of writing (e.g., writing a friendly letter, memoir writing, persuasive writing). Begin the mini-lesson with a brief summary of the book being used for the lesson. Next, you should write a rationale explaining how the book supports the chosen literacy, literary or writing concept. Next, write a description (not bullets or a list) of an objective, procedure, application, and effectiveness of lesson. The objective should describe the skill/concept to be taught. The procedure should describe the steps YOU (not your students) will take to teach the skill/concept. The application should describe what the STUDENTS will do independently to illustrate that they can apply what has been taught. The effectiveness of the lesson should describe what the students need to do to illustrate that the lesson was successful.
Part 3:
Teaching Author Styles and Themes
This section will explain how a style statement is created. A style statement is a description of the author’s style and favorite theme(s). Think of a creative activity that would require the students to make a list of characteristics that are unique about the selected author’s work in order to create his/her own style statement. Be sure to include the list of characteristics that are unique about the selected author’s works in this section.
Part 4:
Culminating Activity
This section will detail activit(ies) that bring the unit to a close. The activit(ies) should reflect the students’ knowledge about the author that has been studied. This activit(ies) should be creative and interactive.
