I’m creating a platform that highlights HBCU basketball. I need help with the “financial considerations” and “measure of success” portions of my capstone. Below is my thesis statement, so you have a reference for the overall point of my project. I also attach an outline for the two portions I need help with.
Thesis: When thinking generally about the landscape of college basketball, specifically Division I, there are a handful of schools and conferences that are consistently represented in the media year in and year out. For a multitude of reasons, HBCU (historically Black college and university) basketball programs are not are not highlighted on a large scale in sports media. In a world largely influenced by mass media, the lack of media coverage that HBCU basketball receives further perpetuates the many other disadvantages that HBCU athletics, namely basketball, are placed with. Momentum seems to be shifting in the world of HBCU sports, but in order to maximize the presence of HBCU basketball, there needs to be a significant improvement in the quality, consistency and accessibility of the media coverage surrounding it.
